Columbia Hotel Academy Celebrates Official Opening
19.4.23 [Limassol, Melanda area] – Columbia Group is immensely proud to announce the date of its landmark Columbia Hotel Academy’s official opening ceremony.
On Friday, May 19th, at 19:00, Columbia Hotel Academy by Winsedswiss and in collaboration with VET by EHL, will open the doors to its purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus to a group of esteemed guests, who will tour the facilities, be informed of the unique collection of programmes, and meet renowned Masterchef judge, Mr. Panos Ioannidis.
Joining Chef Panos in providing inspiring speeches during the event, will be the Head of VET by EHL, Mr. Jens-Henning Peters and CEO of Winsedswiss, Mr. Ray Iunius.
Born from the immense experience of Columbia Group’s stakeholders, coupled with an unbridled passion and zest for delivering hospitality with heart, Columbia Hotel Academy delivers an impactful and immersive learning experience for those seeking to establish or enhance their career in hospitality.
With six-, twelve- and eighteen-month programmes of study under the umbrellas of Service, Culinary, Rooms and Administration, students of Columbia Hotel Academy also benefit from being able to partake in internships at the landmark five-star Columbia Beach Resort or Columbia Restaurants.
Columbia Hotel Academy Director and Training Manager, Mary Frangou, explains: “We are excited and exhilarated for Columbia Hotel Academy’s official debut. About Chef Panos Ioannides:

Panos Ioannidis is a renowned Greek chef, entrepreneur, culinary book author, cooking teacher, and has been a judge on Masterchef Greece, for the last six years. Beginning his career in the mid-1990s as a professional cook in distinguished 5-star hotels and restaurants in Greece and abroad. From 1999 to 2015 he was Executive Chef at the Royal Danish Embassy in Athens, taking over the management and creation of menus at all official events. Since 2008, he has been teaching at private educational institutions and cooking institutes, placing particular emphasis on introducing students to new techniques and trends in the field of gastronomy and catering. The chef’s educational path includes a degree from the State School of Tourism Professions of Thessaloniki, a state degree in meat processing, while he is certified as an instructor of adults and lifelong learning programs by the state body EOPPEP. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts Management from a Swiss college collaborating with the University of Wales, while he has been certified as an Executive Chef by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
